CARNEGIE,
PA -- June 5, 2003 -- NeuralWare, a leading provider
of neural network software for developing and
deploying innovative and intelligent business
and scientific analytics solutions, has announced
a strategic alliance with DuPont Canada and CIMTEK
Automation Systems.
DuPont Canada Inc. and its instrumentation
manufacturing partner, CIMTEK Automation Systems
Inc. have licensed the NeuralWorks Predict® advanced
neural network desktop model development environment
and the NeuralWorks Predict Run-Time Kit (RTK)
for use in the recently announced DuPont™ Acurum™
Visual Particle Analysis System (www.acurum.com).
With its roots in research conducted
by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada scientists,
the Acurum System relies on neural network-based
artificial intelligence to assess the quality
of grain, barley, and other seeds and commodities.
Acurum provides rapid, repeatable, accurate and
consistent analysis of grain quality. This innovative
tool utilizes digital imaging to evaluate various
seed characteristics including diseases, handling
and environmental conditions, seed classification
and determination of admixtures of seeds. By imitating
the human eye, it performs the analysis objectively
through artificial intelligence software. DuPont
Canada plans a broad market penetration across
the entire international agriculture supply chain,
including farmers, elevator and terminal operators,
grain commissions, and mills and malting companies.
Ron Zelonka, DuPont Canada's Vice-President
- Technology and Innovation, stated: "We are excited
to be working with these first-class corporations.
Our commercialization of DuPont™ Acurum™ demonstrates
our commitment to technological innovation in
the Canadian and global agricultural marketplace.
The Acurum™ system provides valuable
information that key suppliers in the grain producing
value chain will use to make better business decisions
in the grain quality assessment process. Acurum™
applies our scientific expertise and cutting-edge
technology to provide integrated science solutions."
The Acurum™ system will be commercial
in the fall of 2003 in Canada and will be available
to all stakeholders in the grain supply chain,
including farmers, elevator and terminal operators,
flour mills as well as foreign grain customers.
The DuPont oval® is a registered
trademark of the E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.
DuPont Canada Inc. is a licensee. Acuru™ is a
