Pittsburgh is a great city to visit!
You'll find beautiful performing arts theaters, quality museums,
professional and university sports teams, picturesque neighborhoods and
delectable cuisine when you arrive for your NeuralWare course in Pittsburgh.
If you plan to attend a play or sports event, be sure to order your tickets
in advance. Depending on the time of year, you may want to catch a Pirates baseball game, a Steelers football game, Penguins hockey game, University of Pittsburgh football game or Pitt
or Duquesne University basketball game.
Though the museums close at 5:00 on weekdays, you will find them open if you
arrive on Sunday before class (all classes begin on Monday). The famous
Andy Warhol Museum and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History with its world-class
dinosaur and gem exhibits are just two of the four Carnegie museums available.
If you're interested in Pittsburgh history, you will find the Senator John Heinz History Center to be a fascinating place to spend a few hours.
And of course there's the Carnegie Science Center with its OmniMax theater and special
exhibits that are especially intriguing for children if your family comes
along. If you plan to bring the children, be sure and let us know. We'll
try to assist you in making their visit memorable.
Two other attractions that are unique to Pittsburgh are the Phipps
Conservatory and Botanical Gardens,
one of the largest and finest
botanical conservatories in the country, and the National Aviary. Phipps Conservatory has been designated as a National Historic Landmark and is among the nation's oldest and largest Victorian glasshouses. The Aviary, in a Declaration by the US Congress in 1993, received honorary national status and was renamed the National Aviary.
Evenings can be an adventure in our city of ethnic diversity. You can dine
on Mt. Washington while viewing the beautiful Pittsburgh skyline where the
three rivers meet or spend an evening on Carson Street in the South Side or on Walnut Street in Shadyside where live music and intimate American and ethnic
restaurants abound. Choose from Italian, Chinese, Polish, Indian, Thai and a
wide assortment of other types of cuisine. You may enjoy a trip to the Church Brew Works for a one-of-a-kind dining
experience in the magnificently renovated St. John the Baptist church while
sampling beer brewed right on the premises. After dinner you may want to
attend a play, the opera or a Pittsburgh Broadway musical in one of our
beautiful performing arts theaters. Like the sports events, you would want
to get your tickets in advance.
We are proud of our city! We hope you enjoy your stay here.
